Thomas Kuhn, U.S. historian and philosopher of science, in the Structure of Scientific Revolution(1962):

A paradigm is "...a constellation of concepts, values, perceptions and practices shared by a community  which forms a particular vision of reality that is the basis of the way a community organises itself." 

Simply put a paradigm is an outstandingly clear example or model upon which all others are based.  It is a way of thinking about, looking at or an approach to working.
